One Major Transition.
Emergency Portfolio Takeover | Operational Leadership | Change Management
THE CHALLENGE
In August 2024, I was given just four days' notice to assume management of approximately 135 additional residential units.
The transition required quickly organizing property records, establishing communication with owners and residents, coordinating maintenance needs, and integrating a large portfolio into an existing operation.
There was no extended onboarding period. The priority was maintaining continuity while building the structure needed to manage the expanded workload effectively.
MY APPROACH
I focused on establishing order quickly without disrupting the people who depended on the business.
That meant prioritizing urgent needs, organizing incoming information, coordinating with staff and vendors, and creating clear processes for managing a much larger workload.
As the portfolio grew, I continued strengthening our systems, training team members, and improving communication so daily operations could run more consistently.
THE OUTCOME
What began as an emergency transition became an opportunity to build a stronger, more scalable operation.
Over the following 15 months, portfolio occupancy improved from 73% to 95%. As the business expanded, I developed the systems, team structure, and vendor relationships needed to support a portfolio that ultimately reached 225 managed units.
The experience reinforced one of my biggest strengths: staying organized under pressure, making decisions with incomplete information, and turning complicated situations into manageable processes.
WHAT THIS EXPERIENCE TAUGHT ME
Leadership isn't always about having the perfect plan. Sometimes it's about stepping into uncertainty, identifying what matters most, and creating enough structure for everyone else to move forward confidently.
That's the approach I bring to executive support, business operations, and every new challenge I take on.
